The first meeting

Posted September 13, 2016.

Hello to all 100+ of you filmmakers and movie-watchers!

My name is Daniel, the secretary of the EFA, and I hope your first few days of classes at EMU have been going well. Let’s cut to the chase, shall we?

Our first meeting will take place this Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 06:30 PM, at Student Center Room 304. Here’s how it’ll go down:

First, we – the officers – will explain what this club is about. You already know that we make and watch movies, but that seems kinda vague, eh? We’ll go over our plan for this semester, as well as reveal the first movie that we’re screening next week.

After that’s done, we’ll make some movies! No, seriously!

We’re going to split into groups, and give each group a short written script and equipment. The challenge: you have two-ish hours to produce and complete your short movie.

We emphasize that you don’t need prior filmmaking experience to be in our club, and it holds true here. Our officers will guide each group and help with the technical aspects of each group’s production.

You don’t need to bring your own equipment. We’ll provide camera, audio, and editing equipment for each group, and officers will help you operate these technological gizmos.

Movie-watching people, we haven’t forgotten you! If you were planning on just watching movies with our club, you’re still welcome to join in the filmmaking madness. Otherwise, we’ll have our first movie screening next Wednesday.

I can only summarize our meeting in an email, so this is a basic overview of what’s happening. If something doesn’t seem clear, please feel free to reply to this email. And if you can’t make it to our first meeting, don’t worry, you can still join us at our next meeting.

I hope you’re as excited as we are about the EFA, and we hope to see you on Wednesday!

Stay cool,
Daniel Ignacio
